Small Internet Service Providers and successful community networks have proven that they can be a viable alternative to the large Telco model of Internet service.  We think they can be the solution to expanding access to the Internet around the world. How can we empower the smaller players?

The Simplir Project knows how, because we were one of them. First, the little guys need an open source software tool kit that makes it as easy as possible to deploy and run your own ISP.  Second, they need a parent organization that can provide competitive clout so the smaller players can be successful. They need help with funding,  name recognition, bandwidth buying power, infrastructure standardization, training, marketing, and more.

The Simplir model is a franchise model that will help spread Internet access around the  world.
